Owensboro Catholic Middle School students did a fundraiser for the Red Cross. Students were able to pay $1.00 to be out of uniform, then they could purchase tootsie pops for a quarter. The school sold 800 pops. All money raised benefitted Kentucky towns devastated by recent tornadoes. More than $300.00 was raised by the OCMS students!

Lent began with Ash Wednesday. OCMS is practicing almsgiving during Lent this year through our Lenten Good Works. Each week benefits a different charity. Week one benefitted the environment as we collected anything that could be recycled. Week two we had a baby shower for Birthright and brought in diapers. Twenty seventh and eighth graders accompanied by Mrs. McCormick attended the Owensboro Youth Summit at KWC. The Summit is an annual event sponsored by the Owensboro Youth Council and allows students from Owensboro, Daviess County and some surrounding counties to participate in several different workshops as well as hear the message of a keynote motivational speaker. Ms. Patton’s 8th grade science completed labs solving for speed. The students had to record their speed as they walked the length of the gym. They had to walk slow, fast, normal, and an unusual way. They students then had to calculate their average speed. The second part of the lab involved racing hot wheels.
